Guide to Good Metal Tone.
This post focuses on what makes a good modern metal tone. I used a very complex guitar rig that used the best of both the digital and analog world. I used a hardware drive pedal, a tube amplifier, a reactive load box, and an Axe-FX for speaker IR loading. Some key principles to keep in mind for good metal tone are having your overdrive on to keep things tight and focused, having the gain set as low as you can to avoid muddied sounds, having a good speaker cabinet impulse response to make sure everything sounds good. I think for my next post, I may get into the art of using a close mic for a good capture of a guitar cabinet. Below, I’ll link all of the products that I used in this post. Good luck and have fun creating. If you enjoy this kind of content, give me a subscribe at my YouTube channel. I’ve got a future installment planned for how to get a good tone actually micing a guitar cabinet, and I’m planning to include download links to some impulse responses that I’ll make in the process of creating that piece of content.
